
Four workers died and six others were injured in a tragic incident that occurred Tuesday morning, following the collapse of a construction bridge on a highway south of Seoul, South Korea, according to local firefighters.
The collapse of the structure, made up of several upper bridge panels, took place in Anseong, approximately 65 kilometers south of the capital, around 09:49 local time. Ten workers fell and were trapped under the rubble, resulting in the death of four of them. Five people sustained serious injuries, while one person was lightly injured.
The collapse occurred while work was being conducted with a crane to connect the upper panels between the pillars of the structure under construction. In response to this emergency, firefighters deployed 92 pieces of equipment and mobilized around 170 personnel to carry out rescue operations.
Citing firefighters: "This is a very serious situation that we are trying to manage with all available resources. Unfortunately, we have confirmed the loss of four lives, and our teams continue to work in the area to rescue the injured and assess the situation."
