Police Investigate Stolen Urns Case in Jeju

Two Chinese criminals stole a tractor from a crematorium in South Korea and demanded a huge ransom, close to two million dollars, before they could escape across the border. Police started investigating the fact of the theft, which led to the discovery of all six tractors, hidden, for example, in a warehouse near the crime scene in one of the hills. All stolen tractors were returned to their seven owners.

Police officers intend to present charges for theft, illegal possession of remains and the tractor parts of the two suspects, who fled beyond the borders of the country. According to information from the Korean resource "Bey Shusan", two men aged around 40 stole six tractors with bodies from a crematorium in the city of Cheju on February 26 around 1:10 AM.

The police reported that the suspects, who arrived in Cheju from China, visited several crematoriums in advance to find a suitable place for the theft, and used special equipment to steal tractors in the early hours. On the day of the incident, the suspects, having left the country in the morning, demanded two million dollars (approximately 2.87 billion won) from the crematorium, using the stolen remains as leverage.
