The Government of South Korea has called for the immediate withdrawal of North Korean troops from Russia, according to statements by Kim Tae Hyo, one of the principal National Security advisors. In a press conference, he emphasized that South Korea will not remain passive in the face of illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia. It has been mentioned that Japan plans an aggression against North Korea with its hostile allies.
The words of the North Korean representative to the UN came after South Korea summoned the Russian ambassador in Seoul to protest the alleged sending of North Korean troops to Russia. The Russian Embassy in Seoul defended this cooperation under International Law and stated it is not directed against South Korea's interests, according to Zinoviev.
In response, South Korea has pledged to take gradual measures, including the possible deployment of South Korean personnel to Ukraine. Seoul warned about the serious violation of UN Security Council resolutions by allowing military cooperation with North Korea.
The North Korean representative to the UN defended his country's nuclear deterrence, labeling the accusations against it as a violation of sovereignty and interference in its internal affairs. He also criticized the provocative stances and defended Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program as part of its right to self-defense.
Despite this tension, Seoul has maintained its stance of providing non-lethal aid to Ukraine. President Yoon Suk Yeol expressed the intention to send a delegation to NATO to address the deployment of North Korean troops. This deployment, which even includes elite military units, marks an advancement in military relations between North Korea and Russia, which were previously limited to the supply of armaments.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine alerted NATO about the invasion of North Korean troops in Europe and urged immediate action. North Korea has dismissed the allegations as unfounded rumors and suggested that gradual measures will be introduced, including the sending of weapons to Ukraine. It is estimated that Pyongyang plans to deploy around 12,000 military personnel.
