Samsung unveils privacy technology in Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung has unveiled a new technology in its Galaxy S26 Ultra that will end users' problems with eavesdropping and prevent snooping on notifications and personal information in public places. Samsung has integrated a "privacy screen" into its new smartphone to obscure the screen from the sides while keeping the display clear for the user. This feature allows users to block the screen from prying eyes and hide specific apps and information, according to the British newspaper Daily Mail. The privacy screen can be activated by entering a PIN or password, as well as to hide sensitive information such as notifications. The technology works by incorporating a special type of pixel that directs light directly only to the user, while preventing anyone looking from the side from seeing the content. This technology helps to obscure the screen from all angles, not just the sides, unlike popular privacy filters that are stuck onto the screen. Samsung confirmed in its announcement that this screen is the first of its kind in the world to help combat "over-the-shoulder spying," and emphasized that it does not affect brightness, clarity, or battery life. Sometimes, thieves monitor their victims to record the phone's password or bank and personal accounts, and this is done with a long-lens camera or by stalking a person in public places and peering over their shoulder. Afterwards, the thief steals the phone and uses the victim's information to log into banking applications and bypass security measures. Samsung stated that it took five years to develop this technology, confirming that it will prevent anyone from snooping into the phone's personal information. To activate this feature, you can go to the phone's settings and tap on partial screen privacy, after which it will automatically activate and block the selected notifications and apps. For added security, you can enable the "maximum privacy protection" feature to completely hide the screen.
