Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world. Recent research has led to various findings about its effects on health. A recent Korean study indicated that daily consumption of black coffee may help improve glucose metabolism, reduce insulin resistance, especially in women.
This study, published in the journal 'Nutrients', analyzed data from over 7,000 people from the Korean national cohort on health and nutrition and focused on the relationship between the types of consumed coffee and glucose metabolism indicators. The results showed that consuming two or more cups of black coffee per day is associated with reduced insulin resistance, which weakens the body's ability to regulate blood sugar levels.
Researchers suggest that the combined 'polyphenols' in coffee, especially chlorogenic acid, contribute to improved insulin response and reduced inflammation. However, despite all these benefits, Korean research recommends moderation and avoiding added sugar to gain maximum health benefits from coffee.
