South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni agreed yesterday to expand cooperation in sectors such as artificial intelligence, space, semiconductors, and critical minerals during Meloni's visit to South Korea. According to a statement from the South Korean presidential office, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the semiconductor industry, including those related to artificial intelligence. The statement also added that the two sides agreed to intensify joint efforts to develop critical mineral supply chains. Meloni is currently on an Asian tour that includes Japan and Oman, and her visit to South Korea is the first by an Italian leader to the country in 19 years.
