Police Deployment for Halloween Safety in Seoul

300 police officers will be deployed in two famous districts in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, to support safety measures prior to the Halloween celebrations, according to South Korea's Interior Ministry. The National Police Agency indicated that police and duty officers will oversee security operations until Thursday in heavily visited locations.

Police forces have been deployed in the Hongdae and Itaewon areas to control the crowds and provide safe passageways. In 2022, a stampede occurred during the Halloween celebrations in Itaewon, resulting in the death of more than 140 people and injuring dozens. This incident triggered widespread reactions and led to the establishment of a committee to investigate the causes.

"The investigation committee works to uncover the circumstances of the tragedy," this was confirmed by local authorities following the similar incident.
