South Korean company SK Hynix, one of the largest producers of memory chips in the world, has announced its new plans to establish a factory for the production of semiconductors in the USA.
According to the company's statement, the construction of the new factory will cost it $106 billion, which will become the largest investment in the memory chip sector in the history of the United States. It is planned that the factory will begin producing the first samples of chips in 2024.
"We are eagerly awaiting the start of construction of the factory in the state of Ohio, which will help increase production capacity and competitiveness of our products," noted a company representative.
According to the representative of SK Hynix, this step will help the company strengthen its position in the memory chip market and reduce dependence on supplies from other countries.
