Decline of Local Korean Companies' Sales in the First Half

A report shows that sales of local Korean companies declined on a yearly basis in the first half of this year for the first time since 2020, despite an increase in sales of export companies.

Decline of Local Korean Companies' Sales in the First Half

The report from yesterday showed that sales of local manufacturers in the first half of this year decreased compared to last year for the first time since 2020. According to the report published by the Korean Federation of Industries, sales of 814 manufacturing companies increased by 6.7% compared to last year for the first half, which was mainly due to the growth of sales of export-oriented companies (194 companies) by 13.6%, while for the sales of other local companies (620 companies) there was recorded a negative trend - a decrease of 1.9%, which appears to be the first drop since 2020.

One of the representatives of the Korean Federation of Industries noted: "Overall, the sales indicators of large companies engaged in the production of goods for export were stable, whereas local companies oriented towards the domestic market experienced a decline, which is likely related to the current economic conditions."
