The news was first reported locally and later confirmed by his agency, Korea Management Group (KMG), in an official statement. The agency said, “We inform you of the death of our actor, Lee Sang Bo. In 2022, the actor faced accusations of drug use while being treated for depression. We ask for your understanding as we cannot reveal the cause of death due to his family's request.” The agency also provided details about the funeral: “The wake will be held in Room 3 of the Pyeongtaek Central Funeral Hall; however, we respectfully ask for the media's cooperation and decline visits to protect his family.” The cause of death was not made public, but reports indicate that the relevant authorities are conducting an investigation. Lee debuted in 2006 and has appeared in numerous works.
