Executives of “One LG Solution” meet with CEO of Mercedes-Benz to deepen their collaboration LG Mercedes-Benz. The collaboration aims to merge LG Group's experience in automotive components with Mercedes-Benz's vision to create software-defined vehicles with new standards of quality and sustainability. The meeting took place at the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seul, during the visit of Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group AG. This strategy seeks to integrate the combined expertise of the four companies, which lead the automotive components business of the tech group. Key figures participated, including the CEOs of LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Energy Solution, and LG Innotek, along with the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea and other senior executives. The discussions focused on how to strengthen cooperation to support Mercedes-Benz's vision for the future of mobility. An example is the OLED-based IVI system developed for the Mercedes-Benz EQS, which includes a panoramic curved screen spanning the entire dashboard. LG Display has supplied advanced Plastic OLED (P-OLED) panels to Mercedes-Benz since 2020. Key areas of technological cooperation include: Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs): LG Electronics and Mercedes-Benz have collaborated on key systems such as in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and advanced driver-assistance systems. These panels, made on flexible plastic substrates, offer exceptional image quality and are fundamental to the next-generation MBUX Hyperscreen infotainment system, enabling curved and elegant designs. Batteries and Electrification: LG Energy Solution continues its alliance in the area of batteries for electric vehicles. Autonomous Driving: LG Innotek is in talks to expand cooperation in sensor technologies essential for autonomous driving, including in-vehicle camera modules, LiDAR, and radar. Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz AG, stated that "strategic alliances and collaboration are the driving force behind the next generation of our vehicles," highlighting that both companies share a vision based on innovation, quality, and sustainability. In turn, William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics, noted that they will continue to "consolidate our strategic alliance with Mercedes-Benz by leveraging our key competencies in the vehicle components business — from our user experience-centric value proposition to our integrated portfolio of SDV solutions."

Marcos announces SSS office opening in Seoul for Filipino workers

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the opening of a new Social Security System (SSS) office in Seoul, South Korea, ensuring that overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will have easier access to essential government services. Speaking before members of the Filipino community in Busan, the President said the SSS office, located at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, will handle membership registration, contribution payments, and claims processing. "I want to assure you, hindi namin kayo nakakalimutan." "The Filipino worker is as good a worker as you will find anywhere in the world," he said. He reiterated his administration’s long-term goal of making overseas employment a choice rather than a necessity by creating more opportunities within the Philippines. The President arrived in South Korea earlier this week to attend the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju. "We are working hard to make sure government services reach you, all the way here in Korea or wherever you are," Marcos said. He emphasized that the initiative is part of his administration’s broader goal to make government services more accessible to Filipinos abroad and to strengthen social protection programs for OFWs. Marcos also revealed that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will open a Philippine Consulate General in Busan next year, serving Filipinos in Busan, Ulsan, and Gimhae. The new office will process passports, civil registry documents, and other consular services. "This is an important step to bring government services closer to Filipinos here in Busan," he said. Expressing gratitude to overseas Filipinos for their hard work and contributions, Marcos highlighted that they remain vital to the nation’s progress.
