According to a statement from the fire department of South Korea, the fire started in the cargo hold of the Airbus aircraft belonging to Busan Airlines, shortly before takeoff to Hong Kong from the international airport of Busan, which is located 320 kilometers southeast of the capital Seoul. All passengers were safely rescued, with a total of 169 people, including 6 crew members and one technician, using slides for evacuation before the fire was localized.

According to information from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, a commission is being established to investigate the incident. For this purpose, 7 officials are planned to be sent to the scene of the incident in order to determine the reasons for the fire.
